Funeral Service for Stanley Adam Meyer, 79, of Palo, will be 11am Saturday, August 24, 2013 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Palo with Pastor Brendan Johnston officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Roseau , MN . Stanley died Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Northern Pines Medical Center in Aurora surrounded by family. He was born August 2, 1934 in Pencer , MN to Sam and Florence ( Anderson ) Meyer. Stanley was a graduate of Warroad High School. On September 22, 1956 he married Ruth Tapa of Skime , MN . He worked as a truck driver and as an engineer at the Roseau power plant. In 1957, he moved his wife and family to Aurora, where he began his 37-year career with Erie Mining Company/ LTV Steel, retiring in 1995. Stanley especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, cattle farming and raising horses. He was a member of the Steelworkers Union 4108, was formerly a Boy Scout leader, basketball coach and firearm safety instructor. Survived by his wife, Ruth; nine children: Steven (Kim) of South Carolina, Leonard, Timothy (Myong), Michael (Theresa), David (Eileen), Dan, Sheryl (Tom) of Florida, Darwin, Shelley (Don) Widseth. 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Stanley is also survived by sisters Ida Holcomb and Virginia (Hank) Henderson, and brother Leonard (Marina) Meyer of Illinois, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Terri Marie; grandson, Coltyn Williams; 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
