Jane Vaneps

Funeral 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at the Biwabik Covenant Church in Biwabik with Pastor Clyde Harvey officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Eveleth Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Jane Agnes Vaneps, 85, of Fayal Township, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Jane was born Dec. 6, 1927, in Suomi, Minn., to Urho and Hilda (Bankord) Rikala. She attended country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Grand Rapids High School. She married Roger Vaneps June 16, 1945, and lived in Grand Rapids prior to making their home in Biwabik. Jane was very active in the Biwabik Covenant Church where she served as church secretary, Sunday school teacher and participated in many women’s groups. In 1978 they semi-retired to Lake Havasu City, AZ and enjoyed spending summers in Fayal Township, Eveleth, where due to health issues, she resided for the last seven years. Jane was a loving wife of 63 years, a devoted mother and a proud grandmother and great grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends. Survivors include Judy Black of California, Vickie (Larry) Urick of Eveleth, Wayne (Carol) Vaneps of Aurora and Sharon (David) Bastianelli of Eveleth; grandchildren, Jennifer, Matt, Michael, Joel, Jeff, Brian, Bobbi Rae, Tiffany, Daryl, Carrie and Lisa; 24 great-grandchildren;a brother and a sister and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and nine siblings. Jane’s family wishes to thank Essentia East Range Hospice for their incredible care and support in her final months.
