Memorial Services for Edna Corrine Powell, 94, of Aurora will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes with Pastor Brendan Johnston officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the Cottonwood Cemetery in Cottonwood, Minnesota at a later date. Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Mrs. Powell died Friday, September 13, 2013 at Essential Health - St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. Edna was born on July 19, 1919 to Elmer and Clara (Gigstad) Johnson in Cottonwood, Minnesota. She attended school in Cottonwood, graduating as the Valedictorian of her class at the age of sixteen years old. Following school, Edna taught at the Cottonwood Country School. Edna was united in marriage to Eldon L. Powell on February 15, 1947 in Cambridge, MN. She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. Edna is survived by her husband of 66 years, Eldon Six children: Larry (Amy) Powell of Aurora; Linda (Ronald) Hill of Savannah, IL; Lorna (John) Fondurulia of Hoyt Lakes; Loris Powell of Aurora; Lloyd (Suzanne) Powell of Duluth and Laird Powell of Aurora; Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two special nephews: Leroy (Laverne) Nelson and Jeffrey (Kathy) Nelson and their families all of Rush City, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents: Elmer and Clara Johnson; a daughter-in-law: Diane Powell; brother-in-law: Clayton Nelson and sister-in-law: Norma Nelson
