Visitation for Gerald Dale Miller, 66, of rural Aurora, will be Friday September 27 from 1-3pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora with a Celebration of Life service at 3pm. Military honors will be accorded by the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes Color Guard. Gerald died suddenly on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 at his residence. He was born June 20, 1947 in Littlefork, MN to Tony and Vilda (Button) Miller. Gerald enlisted with the US Navy in 1967 and served for four years during the Vietnam Conflict. On Aug. 10, 1968 he married Karen Staples in Littlefork. He worked for Boise Cascade Paper Co. in International Falls prior to moving to Aurora in 1974. Here, he worked for Erie Mining Company and retried from LTV Steel as a shovel operator in 2002. Gerald was a member of the Aurora American Legion #241 and the Steelworkers Union #4108. He was an avid vegetable gardener and enjoyed playing dominoes and computer games. Survivors include his wife, Karen; children: Kimberly Dilliplaine of Cheyenne, Wyo., David Miller of Plano, TX, Melinda Stuke of Aurora and Brandon Miller of Aurora; nine grandchildren; one great grandson; siblings: Anthony (Joy) Miller of Blaine, Shirley (Don) Kleppe of Littlefork, Hazel (Rico) Maki of Aurora and Dean (Dave Akins) Miller of Aurora; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Russell and Donald; sister: Maxine.
