Funeral Mass for John Louis "Jack" Vomastek, 90, of Aurora will be 2pm Friday, October 11, 2013 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Aurora with Fr. Steven Daigle as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at church. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer, Michigan. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. John died Friday, October 4, 2013 at Northern Pines Medical Center in Aurora, MN. He was born June 21, 1923 in Ashland, WI to Louis and Mary (McMullin) Vomastek. Following his schooling, he was drafted into the US Army during WWII and served in Battlecreek, Michigan. On June 9, 1951 he married Joyce Erickson in Bessemer. They moved to Aurora in 1952. Jack worked for St. James Mine and later transferred to Eveleth Mines, retiring in the mid-1980's. He was a devoted member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Joyce; children: John (Cathy) Vomastek of Woodbury, James (Lori) Vomastek of Cottage Grove, Kathleen (Thomas) Anderson of Woodbury and Joe (Kendel) Vomastek of Woodbury; grandchildren: Andrew, Anne, Nicholas, Mary, Emily, Rachel, Daniel, Elizabeth, David, Kathryn, Anna, Grace, Peter and Vincent; great grandchildren: David and Noelle; sisters: Shirley Vomastek of Bessemer and Elaine Schwengber of Brazil; several nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Mary; and a daughter, Ann Marie (1963).
