Ruth I. Helander

Memorial service will be 1pm Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Palo Congregational Church in Palo. Ruth died peacefully Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, MN. She was born Oct. 22, 1928 in Sparta Location to John and Mary Kilpela. She married Wayne Helander and they raised two lovely daughters in Biwabik. She worked as clerk of district court in Virginia until her retirement. Her enjoyment came from gardening, traveling, bicycling and the summers she spent working at Crane Lake. She cherished the last years of her life at Keystone Bluffs in Duluth. Ruth is survived by her daughter (Yeshe) Linda, sisters, Terri Helander and Violet Staggs; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughters, Shirley.
