Joseph S. Erchul Jr.

A family funeral service for Joseph Stanislave Erchul Jr., 90, of Biwabik will be held 10:30am Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert with Fr. Steven Daigle officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors accorded by the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes Color Guard will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik. Joseph died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 at Clayridge Assisted Living in Biwabik, MN. He was born Feb. 17, 1923 in Virginia, MN to Joseph Sr. and Angela Erchul. He was a 1940 graduate of Gilbert High School. At the age of 17, he enlisted with the US Marines and served in the South Pacific during WWII. Joseph was married to Helen (Kosteliz) and retired as a mechanic from Erie Mining Company. Survivors include his daughter, Denise (Glen Olson) Erchul of Biwabik; son, Theodore (Julie) Erchul of Mt. Iron; grandchildren: Alecia Waisanen and Hailey Erchul; brother, Frank Erchul of McKinley; sisters: Angela Johnson of Duluth, Ann Gerzina of Duluth and Fran Rojeski of Gilbert; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen (1976); sister, Patty Kelly
