A Memorial service for Kenneth “Ole” Leonard Olson, Jr, 64, of Aurora will be held 1 PM Monday, December 16, 2013 at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora with Fr. Steven Daigle officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Inurnment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora. Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion # 241 of Aurora and the VFW Post #8144 of Hoyt Lakes. Mr. Olson died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Essentia Health – St. Mary’s in Duluth. Kenneth was born on August 21, 1949 to Kenneth and Bethine "Betty" (Lakso) Olson in Biwabik, MN. He grew up in Aurora and graduated from the Aurora Hoyt Lakes High School, Class of 1967. Following school, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served his country in Korea during the Vietnam War. Kenneth had been employed by Erie Mining Company as an auto mechanic until his retirement after 33 years of service. He was united in marriage to Terri Hultgren on August 11, 1989 in Aurora. Ole enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and working on cars. He loved the dogs he had throughout his life. He was a member of the American Legion #241 of Aurora and the VFW Post #8144 of Hoyt Lakes. He is survived by this wife of 24 years, Terri; One son, Chris (Shannon) Olson of Landstuhl, Germany; two granddaughters, Emma and Molly Olson; his mother, Bethine “Betty” (Walter) Brinkman of Virginia; a sister, Jeanne (Greg) Carlson of Virginia; one niece, Lori (Darren) Lippert and their children, Kaylee and Blake of Devils Lake, ND; a nephew, Brad (Sara) Carlson of Virginia; three sisters-in-law, Debbie Hultgren, Mary (Dan) Rasmusson and Denise (Lance) DeMent; two brothers-in-law, Mark and Tom Hultgren; several friends and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Olson, Sr.; his grandparents; and mother and father in law: Marlo and Rose Hultgren
