Funeral Mass for Edward J. Fale, 81, of Babbitt, will be 10am Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Babbitt with Fr. Bill Skarich as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at church. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora, MN. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Edward died Tuesday, Janaury 7, 2014 at Essentia Health - St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth following complications from surgery. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 12, 1932. Ed served with the US Marines and later married Bette Mattalina in 1961. They raised their family in Chicago where Ed worked as a mechanic at his service station in Tinley Park. In 1985 they moved to Babbitt and during that time he and Bette owned and operated the Sears merchant store in Ely. In his earlier years he enjoyed photography and carpentry. More recently, he was always willing to assist others with their computer concerns and give helpful advice. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Bette; daughters: Janet Stewart of Virginia and Lynda (Paul) Doherty of Babbitt; grand children: Jamie (Jesse) Christensen and Shawn Doherty; great grandchild, Sylas and his canine companion and best friend, Chico. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie; son-in-law, Brian Doherty; mother-in-law, Frances Mattalina.
