Marlene died Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, MN. She was born September 18, 1931 in Little Falls, MN to Frank and Louise (Flicker) Preiner. Marlene was raised in Pierz, MN and later attended Virginia High School. On October 4, 1952 she married the love of her life, Robert Oelrich, in Virginia. Marlene worked as head cashier for the Virginia Red Owl for several years. On November 20, 1954 they were among the first twelve families to move to Hoyt Lakes. They were proud to be some of the original Hoyt Lakes "mudders". Marlene was a homemaker, a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, the Hoyt Lakes Senior Citizens and the Hoyt Lakes VFW Auxiliary. Marlene loved cooking and the pleasure of seeing her family enjoy her meals. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, taking many photos of the family "just to finish the roll", and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Marlene had a smile and a hug for everyone. Her sense of fun, the twinkle in her eyes, her generosity, caring, and deep devotion to her family are treasured by each of them. She will be the whisper on the breeze reminding them that "Whatever will be, will be. Smile now and think of me." Survivors include her husband, Robert; daughters: Debra (Dennis) Moore of Duluth, Janell (Steven) Oelrich-Schreiber of Spring Valley, MN and Lori (Anthony) Everett of Cook; grandchildren: Christine, Scott, Sara, Timothy, Alexander, Zachary and Joshua; great grandchildren: Jonah, Mia, Eva, Asher, Riley and Axel; brother, James Preiner of Hermantown; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Louise Preiner; grandson, Brian; siblings: Norma, LaVerne and Marvin.
