A gathering of family and friends of Kim A. LaCount, 59, of Hoyt Lakes, will be from 5-7pm Thursday at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora with a time of reminiscing beginning at 5pm. A reception will follow at 7pm at the Timothy Robinson VFW Post in Hoyt Lakes. Burial will take place in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Kim died suddenly Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Northen Pines Medical Center in Aurora. He was born October 11, 1954 in Roseau, Minnesota to George and June (Roseen) LaCount. He was a graduate of Aurora High School and later attended Eveleth Vo-Tech in the welding program. On April 6, 1974 he married Rose Thuringer in Hoyt Lakes. Kim worked for Industrial Welders in Biwabik prior to working for Erie Mining Company as a welder for nearly 30 years. Following its closure, he owned and operated The Weld Shop in Hoyt Lakes. Kim was a self taught guitarist who loved to sing and entertain groups. Survivors include his wife, Rose; daughter, Shannon (Chris) LaCount of Duluth; mother, June LaCount of Hoyt Lakes; brother; Terry (Marsha) LaCount of Hoyt Lakes; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, George and sister, Linda Bartholomew.
