Funeral Mass for Albert Cyril "Bud" Wallis Jr., 76, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 10am Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hoyt Lakes with Fr. Steven Daigle as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to mass at the church. Burial will be at a later date in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Bud died Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Essentia Health - St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, MN. Albert was born January 5, 1938 in Eveleth, MN to Albert C. and Anne (Godich) Wallis Sr. He was a 1955 graduate of Gilbert High School. On May 11, 1957 he married Joan Nisula in Virginia, MN. Bud began working for Erie Mining Company and retired in 1998 as a welder from LTV Steel with 41 years of service. In retirement, he enjoyed working for Big Guy's Bar in Aurora and for Big Al's Bar in Gilbert, where he was affectionately known as "Part-Time Bud". He was a member of the former Moose Lodge in Aurora, where he served as Governor and a member of its ritual team. Survivors include his wife, Joan; children: Cindy (Brad) Loe of Aurora, Lori (Rob) Vovk of Andover, Jerry (Colleen) Wallis of Hibbing, Kelly (Bruno) Lichtanski of Coon Rapids and sister-in-law Janet (Pat) Raycraft who was like a daughter to him; grandchildren: Ashley and Alex Loe, Bobby (Carrie) Vovk, Robin (Dan) Nelson, Brandon Vovk, Megan, Mara and Paige Wallis, Heather and Jason Brown, Hilary and Chad Leon and Logan Raycraft; great grandchildren: Blake, Mady, Isabelle, William, Haylee, Olivia and Gage; sister, Judy (Bill) Ketola of Tower; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers: Marvin and Robert.
