George E. Wentworth

A graveside service for George E. Wentworth, 91, of Virginia, formerly of Hoyt Lakes, will be 10am Saturday July 12, 2014 at the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Brendan Johnston officiating. A time of remembrance will immediately follow at Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes. George Edward Wentworth was born Nov. 28, 1922 in Tulsa, OK to George F. and Florence (Frost) Wentworth. He was a graduate of Carthage High School in Carthage, MO. In 1956 he moved to Hoyt Lakes and later married Shirley Olson on July 30, 1960 in Hoyt Lakes. George worked as an accountant for Erie Mining Company until his retirement in 1984. He was a Charter Member of Faith Lutheran Church and was active with the Gideons International. Survivors include his son, Michael (Roberta) Wentworth of Arnold, MD; daughter, Roberta Wentworth of Westminster, CO; grandchildren: Nicholas and Livia; brother, Kenneth Wentworth of Fair Oachs, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; brothers: Bob and Bill; sisters: Dorothy and Blanche. He will be greatly missed by his family and remembered as a man of great faith.
