Irene DeCenzo

Graveside service for Irene Theresa DeCenzo, of Casco, Michigan, will be 11am Monday, September 22, 2014 in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Aurora, with Fr. Steven Daigle officiating. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Irene died Monday, September 15, 2014 at her home in Casco, Michigan. Irene was born March 25, 1921 in Aurora, MN to Eugene and Lucia (Brascugli) DeCenzo. In 1929 she and her family moved to Detroit, Michigan where she graduated from Wayne State University with a BS in Nutrition Science. Irene worked at Providence Hospital in Detroit for 30 years as a Chief Dietician. She also taught nutrition classes at nursing schools and later created diet plans and supervised kitchens at local hospitals and care centers until her retirement. Survivors include her brother, Victor DeCenzo of Casco; nephew, Steven DeCenzo; niece, Diane Schwarzmann; grand nephews, Alexander and Nicholas DeCenzo. She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother’s: Elbert and Herbert.
