Cary passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014 at his home surrounded by family following a brief, hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born February 12, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Catherine Pokorny. Cary and his wife, Sherry, built their home in Markham in 1976 and raised their two children there. In 1989 they purchased Pokorny’s Resort on Lake Kabetogama in Ray, MN. They owned and operated it until 2012. Cary also worked for EvTac as a welder for 30 years. Cary served in the US Army Reserves and the National Guard from 1974-1980. The resort industry and helping others was his passion, but welding was his life.
