GySGT. FRANK LEE ‘GUNNY’ MELGEORGE Funeral service for Frank Lee “Gunny” Melgeorge, 61, of Gilbert, will be 11am Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be accorded by the Gilbert VFW Post. He died Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Essentia Health – St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN. He was born April 7, 1953 in Virginia, Minnesota to Frank C. and Victoria M. (Mish) Melgeorge. Gunny was a 1971 graduate of Roosevelt High School and while serving in the US Marine Corps, he earned his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice at Chaminade University of Honolulu, HI. He retired from the US Marine Corp as a Gunnery Sergeant. On May 3, 1975 he married Brenda Hopkins. Gunny was an avid outdoorsman, Minnesota Vikings fan and Benefactor Member of the National Rifle Association. Survivors include his wife, Brenda; son, Frank Melgeorge of Gilbert; daughter, Brandy (Nicholas) Denkler of Louisville, KY; grandchildren: Christopher Ryan, Frank Alexander, Elizabeth Nicole, Julie Ann and Nicholas Andrew Jr.; siblings: Casmir “Tony” (Ruth) Melgeorge, Paul Melgeorge and James (Curtis Andrews) Melgeorge; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
