Anne M. Moren

Anne Moren (Steblay), 97, of Arden Hills, MN passed away on December 6, 2014 at Presbyterian Homes of Arden Hills surrounded by her family. She was a devoted, loving mother and gracious friend. She always greeted everyone with a warm “hello” and wished them well with a “thank you for coming”. Anne had a heart of gold and cared deeply about her friends and family. She was born on April 8, 1917, in Eveleth, MN to Joseph and Mary (Rigler) Steblay . She was a graduate of Eveleth High School and worked at the Park Hotel in Eveleth. In 1941, she married Stanley R. Moren and moved to Gilbert, MN where they started their family. Upon Stanley’s death in 1961, Anne dedicated her life to raising her four children. She taught catechism at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gilbert for 17 years. Her focus was family, community, and making a better life for her children. She stressed education and encouraged all of her children to attend college. In 2003, she moved to the Twin Cities to be closer to her family. Everyone in her family benefited from her nursing care and home cooking. She always had an open door for conversation and was a good listener. She had a strong Catholic faith and enjoyed her Slovenian heritage, studying the language for many years. Anne liked to garden and was known for her beautiful flowers. Most of all, she enjoyed music and passed that love on to her children. Mom taught her children by example and remains a role model. Anne is survived by a brother, Louis “Lexy” Steblay of Las Vegas, NV, children, Margaret Lopez (Raymond), Dr. Maryanne Moren, Stanley (Arleen) Moren, and Louis (Janet) Moren, eight grandchildren Jeannie, Peter, Ryan, Michael, Julie, Emily, Luke and Aaron, and three great-grandchildren, Jessica, Alex, and Ethan. Anne is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley; sisters, Mary Steblay, Frances (Albin) Kucler and Theresa (Bob) Hale; brothers, Joseph and John; and one brother and two sisters who died during infancy. The family would like to thank the staff of Presbyterian Homes for the wonderful care she received. The family made many lasting friendships with residents and their families. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 12, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gilbert, MN with Fr. Charles Flynn as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at the church. Burial will be in the Gilbert Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at Presbyterian Homes of Arden Hills at 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 13, 2014. Arrangements are by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home.
