Memorial services for C. Brian Johnson, 76, of Palo will be 11 am Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Palo with Pastor Brendan Johnston officiating. Inurnment will be in the Rauha Cemetery in Palo. Brian died Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Essentia Health – Northern Pines in Aurora. Brian was born on May 12, 1938 to Eino and Ellen (Ekroos) Johnson in Virginia. He grew up and attended elementary school in Markham and graduated from Aurora High School, Class of 1956. Following high school he furthered his education by attending Virginia Jr. College and then University of Minnesota – Duluth. Brian was united in marriage to Judy Halmet, his high school sweetheart, on August 2, 1958 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Palo. Brian was employed as a chemist in the analytical lab at Erie and consequently LTV, having dedicated 30+ years of service to the company. He was a member of the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Ducks Unlimited, and the Trap Clubs of Hoyt Lakes and Virginia. Brian was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and woodcarving. Survivors include his wife: Judy; four sons: Todd Johnson of Palo, Jay Johnson of Cohasset, Craig (Merry) Johnson of Palo and Philip Johnson of Palo; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; one brother: Dale (Vera) Johnson of Silver Bay; one sister: Bonnie (Gene) Saumer of Markham; numerous nieces and nephews; and the many lakes unfished and woods unhunted. He was preceded in death by his parents.
