Arlene M. Flanagan

Mass of Christian Burial for Arlene M. Flanagan, 80, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 10am Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hoyt Lakes, with Fr. Steven Daigle and Fr. Daniel Weiske con-celebrating the mass. Visitation will be Tuesday (today) from 5-7pm, with recitation of the rosary at 6:30pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Visitation will also be for one hour prior to the mass at church on Wednesday. Burial will take place in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. Arlene died Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Benedictine Health Care Center in Duluth, MN. She was born January 2, 1935 in Wadena, MN to Leo and Edna (Halbrehder) Brockpahler. On June 16, 1956 she married John Patrick Flanagan in Bluegrass, MN. They moved to Hoyt Lakes in 1957 where Arlene was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women and the Timothy Robinson VFW Auxiliary. Arlene especially enjoyed knitting and was an excellent cook and baker. Survivors include her husband, John "Pat"; children: Kathleen Flanagan of Duluth, Cynthia (John) Weiske of Duluth, Alicia (Scott) Sunnarborg of Esko and Brigid (Michael) Amberg of Byron, MN; grandchildren: Fr. Daniel Weiske, Timothy Weiske, Kelly and Claire Amberg and Annabelle Sunnarborg; siblings: Leonard Brockpahler, Dolores Malerich and Ronald Brockpahler; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Margaret Richter.
