Memorial Mass for Lawrence “Larry” Gordon, 86, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Hoyt Lakes, will be 10am Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hoyt Lakes with Fr. Steven Daigle as celebrant. Friends may gather one hour prior to the mass at church. Inurnment will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Military honors will be accorded by the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes Color Guard. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be given to your favorite charity in memory of Larry. Larry died Thursday, February 5, 2015 at River Grand Assisted Living in Grand Rapids, MN. He was born April 25, 1928 in Bayfield, WI to James and Elizabeth Gordon. He was a graduate of Bayfield High School and later served our country in the US Navy near the end of WWII. Following his discharge from active duty, he attended one year of college at University of Wisconsin-Superior. He enlisted with the US Air Force from 1950-1954 and served in Korea, where he received his initial training with computers. He married Martha D. Muldoon on Nov. 6, 1954 in Louisville, KY. They moved to Hoyt Lakes in 1960 where he worked for Erie Mining Company. He retired from there in 1990 as a Computer Services Supervisor. He was a man of faith, a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Larry loved taking annual trips to Louisville, KY for the Kentucky Derby, a good card game and was a fan of his generation’s music. Survivors include his six children: Michael (Diane) Gordon of Grand Rapids, MN, Patrick (Cathy) Gordon of Apple Valley, MN, Molly (Bill) Dowd of Parker, CO, Mary (Paul) Kuhlman of Ashland, WI, Kelley (Patrick) Tuttle of Marysville, WA and Alex (Claudia) Gordon of Plymouth, MN; 12 grandchildren, two great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his lovely wife of 43 years, Martha; his parents; and eight of nine siblings.
