Funeral service for Gordon W. Domiano, 94, of Gilbert will be 10:30am Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert with Fr. Charles Flynn officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date in the Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik, MN. Gordon died Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at St. Michael’s Health and Rehab in Virginia, MN. He was born January 15, 1921 in Biwabik, MN to Ralph and Valentina (Manala) Domiano. Gordon was a US Army veteran serving in New Guinea and the South Phillippines, working as a power shovel operator. He married Mary Ann Mejasich. Gordon worked for St. Louis County as an Equipment operator. He also owned and operated the Rumba Casino in Gilbert and the 201 Bar in Eveleth. During that time, he also owned and operated a heavy equipment contracting business and was instrumental in developing the Lenci Addition. He retired from the Gilbert Public Schools as a Bus Driver. He was a member of the Eveleth Elks, the Gilbert Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, the Virginia American Legion Serviceman’s Club and the Italian/American Club. Survivors include his children: Sharon (Sid) Thompson of California and Nick Domiano of Ely Lake, Eveleth; grandchildren: Nick Domiano Jr. of Eveleth, Tracy (Joe) Schmitz of Cloquet,Steven Cornett of Las Vegas, Lorrie Jo Hendricks of Aurora, Tammy Saylor of Grand Rapids, MN and Wendy Pereze of Anchorage, AK; twelve great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ann; sons: Rick and one in infancy; brothers: Tony and Nick; sisters: Mary and Carrie.
