Marlene M. Powell

Funeral Mass for Marlene M. Powell, 77, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 10:30am Friday, May 15, 2015 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hoyt Lakes with Fr. Eamonn Boland as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at church. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Calvary Cemetery in St. Paul, MN. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Marlene died Saturday, May 9, 2015 at her residence. She was born June 13, 1937 in St. Paul, MN to Charles and Helen McKenzie. On July 9, 1963 she married Earl Powell in St. Paul. There, she worked as the principal clerk for Ramsey County Civil Services. In 1965 the couple moved to Hoyt Lakes. Here she worked for the Hoyt Lakes Community Credit Union for many years. Marlene was a homemaker, an active member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, its Council of Catholic Women, quilting group and catechism instructor. Survivors include her husband, Earl; children: Gregory Powell of Bemidji and Jane Armbrust of Amery, WI; grandchildren: Haley, Jacob and Hanna Powell, Madeline and Margaret Armbrust; brother, Donald (Yvonne) McKenzie of Hudson, WI and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Jim, Charles Jr. and Lois.
