Scott Barshaw

Memorial service for Scott Barshaw, 64, of Coon Rapids, MN will be 11 am Monday, June 15, 2015 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert with Fr. Charles Flynn officiating. Friends may gather one hour prior. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Gilbert Cemetery. Scott died June 6, 2015 at his home in the loving comforting care of his family. He was born May 16, 1951 in Marquette, Michigan to Raymond "Bill" and Catherine "Cassie" (Smith) Barshaw. Scott was a 1969 graduate of Marquette Senior High School. He worked for the Soo Line Railroad in customer service and retired from Canadian Pacific Railroad with 42 years of service. Scott was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed his 2011 Moose hunt which was successful when he bagged his Moose “Abs”. Another enjoyment for him was to spend time at the river place near Aitkin with family and friends. That is also the place he married Candace Bruun in August 2002. Survivors include his wife, Candace; daughters: Nickie (Brian) Miller of Marquette and Stephanie Barshaw of Ishpeming; mother, Catherine "Cassie" Barshaw of Marquette; grandchildren: Anthony Miller and Aiden Barshaw; siblings: Bobbie (Steve) Hampton of Marquette, Gary (Buffy) Barshaw of Columbia, PA and Jill (Jeff) Barshaw-Duer of Marquette; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond "Bill" and an infant brother, Raymond.
