Memorial service for Helen L. Barker, 91, of Hoyt Lakes will be 11 am Friday, June 19, 2015 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Hoyt Lakes with Pastor Jerry Kosanovich officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Helen L. Barker died Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Essentia Health-Northern Pines in Aurora after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born on June 10, 1923 to Harold and Jessie (Wills) Nicholls in Hancock, MI. She had been employed at the Michigan Bell Company. During WWII, Helen served as an overseas telephone operator in San Franscisco, CA. Helen was united in marriage to Adrian Barker on March 29, 1947 in Quincy, MI. Helen loved life, her family, her church family, and the many winters spent in Hawaii. Survivors include her loving husband of 68 years: Adrian; children: Mary (Stan) Dalidowicz, Tom (Jackie) Barker, and Jim (Cathy) Barker; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law: Rosalyn Barker. Helen was preceded in death by her son, David on March 3, 2015. Helen’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at the Northern Pines Nursing Home in Aurora for the loving care Helen received over the past eighteen months.
