Memorial Mass for Nicholas August Brascugli, 79, of Fayal Township will be 11 am Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Resurrection Catholic Church in Eveleth with Fr. Charles Flynn Celebrating. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass at the church. Interment Eveleth Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Nicholas “Nick” Brascugli died Thursday, July 9, 2015 at his home. Nick was born on June 9, 1936 to Marcello and Amedea (Paciotti) Brascugli in Eveleth. He grew up and attended Eveleth High School, Class of 1954. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities where he was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. Nick studied mechanical engineering, graduating in 1959. He was a Registered Professional Engineer. Nick was united in marriage to Patricia Marwick on September 17, 1960 in Eveleth. Shortly after marrying, the couple moved to Port Cartier, Quebec, Canada where Nick was employed by Quebec Cartier Mining, US Steel, for five years; also serving as a liaison with consulting for the Montreal engineers. Nick was then transferred to the US Steel headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA for three years. It was at this time that Minntac was in the process of being constructed. As an integral member of the design team, Nick made many trips between Pittsburgh and Mt. Iron. Nick retired from US Steel as the Manager of Facilities Engineering and Environment after 35+ years of service. Nick enjoyed skiing, curling, and tree planting, including 1000 trees planted at the Little Fork River. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, the Eveleth Elks, and Resurrection Catholic Church. He will be remembered as an ethical and honest man who will be dearly missed. Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years: Patricia; one son: Anthony (Danelle) Brascugli of Fayal Township; daughter: Gina Nicole (Jeffrey Spartz) Brascugli of Biwabik; two grandchildren: Alexia and Nicholas Daniel Brascugli; brother: Dr. William (Suzanne) Brascugli of St. Cloud; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister: Olive Murphy; brother: Thomas Alexander Brascugli; a nephew: William Brascugli; niece: Lynn Damberg Brascugli; and his parents.
