A gathering of friends and family for Richard James Harkins, 43, of Duluth, formerly of Aurora will be held from 1-3 pm Friday, September 18, 2015 at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Richard died Friday, September 11, 2015 near Steamboat Springs, Colorado while doing what he loved most, hunting. He was born on January 18, 1972 to James Harkins and Susan Wozniak in Hebron, Indiana. Richard graduated from Boone Grove High School, in Boone Grove, Indiana. Following high school, Ricky went to work as a sales representative for Buck’s Cycles and most recently was employed as a sales representative for Castle Sporting Goods. Ricky enjoyed traveling, dirt bike racing, snowmobiling, hunting, and fishing, especially on Lake Superior. He also enjoyed spending time on his property on Lake Vermilion. He was a member of the American Motorcross Association. Survivors include his father: James Harkins of Aurora; mother: Susan Harkins of Aurora; three sisters: Tracy (Bryan) Harkins-Ripple of Crown Point, IN, Lisa Harkins of Virginia, and Kristin (Steve) Raver of Aurora; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Hugh and Lucille Harkins and Henry and Helen Wozniak.
