Funeral service for Barbara Ann Preiner, 58, of Gilbert will be 11 am Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Heritage Trail Bible Church in McKinley with Pastors Michael Wefel and Dan Miller officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Gilbert Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Barbara Ann Preiner died Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth after a courageous six and a half year battle with ovarian cancer. She grew up in Hoyt Lakes and graduated from the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes High School, Class of 1975. She continued her education in the field of nursing at Itasca College in Grand Rapids. Following college, Barbara was employed by the Arrowhead Nursing Home in Virginia. She was currently employed as the school nurse for the Eveleth-Gilbert School, where she had been employed for the past 25+ years. Barbara was united in marriage to Kim Preiner on September 8, 1979 in Hoyt Lakes. Barbara was an avid golfer, gardener, and deer hunter. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed. Her family takes comfort that Barbara is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is survived by her husband of 36 years: Kim; two daughters: Michelle (Jamie) Litke of Pierz, MN, Carrie (Jered) Banks of Shakopee, MN, a son, David “DJ” (Amanda) Preiner of Eden Prairie, MN; five grandchildren: Morgan, Danny, Brooke, Lance Litke and Carlie Banks; her father: Vernon “Poncho” Palach of Hoyt Lakes; three brothers: Jack Palach of Stevens Point, WI, Mick (Julie) Palach of Plymouth, MN, and Tom Palach of Aurora, MN; mother-in-law: Fran Preiner of Gilbert and father-in-law: Jim (Lynda) Preiner of Hermantown; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother: Margie Palach.
