Memorial Mass for Beverly Jean “Bev” Cherro, 74, of Aurora, will be 11am Friday, November 20, 2015 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Aurora with Fr. Steven Daigle as celebrant. Friends may gather one hour prior at the church. Inurnment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Bev died Saturday, November 14, 2015 at her home with family at her side. She was born August 9, 1941 in Menahga, MN to Rudolph and Melida (Wuollet) Palokangas. Bev began working at Cluett Peabody Shirt Factory in Virginia as a seamstress and later married Leon Cherro on April 23, 1966. In her earlier years, Bev was an excellent homemaker for her family. She worked in various capacities at the East End Market, Hank’s Bar and Grill and for nearly ten years worked retail at the Ben Franklin store in Hoyt Lakes. Bev continued to stay busy her entire life with her hobbies of sewing, quilting, ceramics, gardening and playing BINGO. For many years she was a league bowler and won State Champion. Another favorite pastime was blue berry picking and would often stop at a favorite patch while on her travels. Survivors include her husband, Leon; children: Timothy Cherro of Aurora, Thomas (Cindy) Cherro of Proctor and Mary (Patrick) Nesgoda of Duluth; seven grandchildren: Michael (Heather), Brandon, Casey, Timothy Jr., Kaylee, Hannah and Hope; two great grandchildren: Aiden and Gabriella; brother, Dennis (Jane) Palokangas of Eveleth and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers: Wesley and Clyde.
