Funeral service for Carol Elaine Fazio, 77, of Hoyt Lakes will be 10:30 am Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes with Pastors Joyce Tollefson-Capp and Barbara Hegfors officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Carol died Friday, December 4, 2015 at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. Carol was born on February 14, 1938 to Carl and Emma (Bammerud) Syversrud in Hibbing. She grew up and attended school in Hibbing, graduating from Hibbing High School, Class of 1956. Following high school, Carol attended Hibbing Junior College, where she studied in the secretarial program. She was employed at the Hibbing High School as the secretary for the guidance counselor. Carol was united in marriage to Joseph Fazio on September 30, 1961 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hibbing. She had also been employed as a sales representative for Fingerhut until her retirement. Carol loved being a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes, where she sang in the choir, attended bible study, and volunteered in their circles. Carol took great pride in taking photography and documenting the events of her family and friends. She enjoyed cross stitching, playing cards with her Bridge Club, Dance Club, and Coffee Group. Carol took pleasure in hosting parties and celebrations for special occasions for her family and friends. She also enjoyed the snowmobile group that she and Joe as well as their friends founded. Carol enjoyed her many travels with her family to destinations including Alaska, Las Vegas, and Colorado. She delighted in her spending time with her family and friends and will be remembered as a kind, caring, positive, compassionate, loving wife, mother and friend. Survivors include her daughter: Sandra (Tom) Fazio of Anchorage, AK; two sons: David (Belinda) Fazio of Tower and Alan (Jill) Fazio of Fergus Falls; eight grandchildren: Christopher Pecchia, Bettina (Brian) Patterson, Trista Jackson, Andrew, Cody, Matiya, Chance, and Lauren Fazio; six great-grandchildren: Zoey, Dane, Lucy, Kyler, Brent, and Amaya She was preceded in death by her huband, Joseph; a grandson: Nicholas Fazio; a brother: Gene Syversrud; and her parents.
