Memorial Service for David D. Wolner, 58, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 11am Friday, January 29, 2016 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora with Pastor Barbara Hegfors officiating. Friends may gather from 9am until the time of service. Inurnment will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Dave died Sunday, January 24, 2016 at his home surrounded by family after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born June 25, 1957 in St. James, Minnesota to James and Elsie (Boutain) Wolner. Dave was a graduate of Aurora-Hoyt Lakes High School. Dave was employed by Eveleth Taconite and worked there in various capacities over the years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, enjoyed cooking for family gathering, and most of all enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. Survivors include his sons: Matthew (Sara) Wolner of Amarillo, TX, Bryan Wolner of Bemidji, Pete (Kim) Wolner of Hoyt Lakes and Jeff Wolner of Hoyt Lakes; grandchildren: Kevin, Ava, Austin, Sophia and Alex; siblings: Jerry Wolner and Rick (Michelle) Wolner both of Michigan and Barney (Joan) Wolner of Seward, AK; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Elsie; and his birthmother, Karen Wolner.
