Funeral Mass for Paul Edward “Eddie” Tekautz, 72, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 10am Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hoyt Lakes with Fr. Peter Lambert as celebrant. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora and also for one hour prior to the mass at church. Burial will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. He died Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Essentia Health in Aurora, MN. Paul was born August 15, 1943 in Tower, MN to Charles and Gladys (Axelson) Tekautz. He was a graduate of Tower High School and later married Patricia Dockery on June 19, 1965 in Hoyt Lakes. Following the marriage, he worked in Chicago for a short time prior to moving to Hoyt Lakes. Paul worked for Erie Mining Company and retired from LTV Steel as a maintenance mechanic in 1996. He also worked at North Star Lanes in Hoyt Lakes as a bartender and alley maintenance. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, TRC and was an avid Hoyt Lakes League Softball player and Bowler. For many years he coached pony league basketball, and took pride in maintaining the ballfields, outdoor ice rinks and enjoyed planting trees in the community. He was even known to be a dog-sitter when needed for many in Hoyt Lakes. Survivors include his wife, Patty; daughters: Michelle (Jim Nehl) Metzer and Robin (Mike) Flannery all of Hoyt Lakes; grandchildren: Matthew Metzer, Jessa Metzer, Christopher Metzer, Kristina Metzer, Kristie Litchy, Lucas Litchy, Whittney Litchy, Mike White, Samantha Warren and Robbie Flannery,; great grandchildren: Jayden, Brooklyn, Caius, Ryder, Brealyn, Maddie, Anthony, DeAndre, Marlee, Elsa and Lydia; brothers: Charles (Nancy) Tekautz of Soudan and Robert (Paula) Tekautz of Virginia; sisters: Pat (Steve) Raj of Tower and Melinda (Albert) Berg of Soudan; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, James Skofich; brother, Tim; son-in-law, Tony Metzer and his canine companion, Curly.
