Funeral service for Eino John Koivisto, 93, of Palo, will be 10:30am Thursday, April 28, 2016 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Palo with Pastor Barbara Hegfors officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial with military honors accorded by the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes Color Guard will be in the Rauha Cemetery in Palo. Eino died Monday, April 18, 2016 at Northern Pines Medical Center in Aurora, MN. He was born November 3, 1922 in Palo, MN to John and Saima (Halmet) Koivisto. Following his schooling, Eino served our country in the US Navy during WWII. He was stationed on the USS Manila Bay. Following his military service he married Jane Ostlund on October 18, 1947. Eino worked for various construction companies as a welder prior to establishing Koivisto’s Auto Salvage. He owned and operated the salvage yard in Palo until selling the business to his son, Terry in the late 1980’s. Eino was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, the Aurora American Legion and Hoyt Lakes VFW Posts. Eino enjoyed deer hunting and fishing, but his passion was working in general and had a strong work ethic. Survivors include his son, James (Cindy) Koivisto of Palo; daughter, Sally Miller of Palo; grandchildren: Debbie, Tracey, Cindy, Jenni, Kris, Lori, Hope and Josh; several nieces and nephews; as well as great-grand children. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jane; son, Terry; son-in-law, Chris; sisters, Vieno and Ruth; brother, Edwin.
