Funeral service for Robert “Bob” Mannelin, 84, of Markham will be 2 pm Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the Palo Congregational Church with Pastor Jerry Kosanovich officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Wednesday at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Markham Cemetery. Robert passed away Monday, April 25, 2016 at St. Michael’s Health and Rehabilitation Center in Virginia. He was born on November 28, 1931 to Arvid and Martha (Lindgren) Mannelin. He graduated from the Cotton High School, Class of 1949. Bob was employed as a Class A mechanic in several mines until working for LTV Steel, from which he retired from after 38 years of service in 1988. Following his retirement, Bob owned and operated Bob’s Auto Clinic in Markham. He was united in marriage to Saima Rytty on March 1, 1952. The couple enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Sye; three children: Linda (Bob) Basara of Duluth, Richard (Daela) Mannelin of Duluth, and Darlene (Bob Capistrant) Gaul of Two Harbors; nine grandchildren: Paul (Allison Gilley) Mannelin, Michael (Erin) Mannelin, Timothy Mannelin, Christina (Jeff Linden) Gaul, Sarah (Hudie) Broughton, Eric (Sara Moore) Gaul, Brittany Basara, Courtney (Nate) Smith, and Courtney Basara; twelve great-grandchildren; a sister: Phyllis (Ron) Dall of Makinen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arvid and Martha Mannelin; a brother, Ray Mannelin; and two sisters, Lorraine Tyykila and Sigrid Levanpaa; and several nieces and nephews.
