Funeral service for Steven “Chopper” Eric Erickson, 55, of Embarrass will be 1 pm Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Evangelical Free Church in Embarrass with Reverend Marlin Bjornrud officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Wednesday at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Embarrass Cemetery. Steven died Sunday, May 1, 2016 at his home. Chopper was born on June 16, 1960 to Erwin and Harriet (Cave) Erickson in Virginia. He grew up in Embarrass. Chopper graduated from the Biwabik High School, Class of 1978. Following school, he went to work for his family’s logging business, Skibo Timber. Chopper went out to Pennsylvania for a while to work for the Caterpillar Company. Chopper returned to the Range and was employed by ArcelorMittal Mining where he retired from after 19 years of service on September 14, 2014. Chopper was united in marriage to Lori Debelak on June 4, 1994 in Aurora. Chopper enjoyed bowling, playing pool, fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 21 years: Lori; two step-children: Crystal (Chris) Carlson and their son, Lars of Duluth, and John Glowacki of Phoeniz, AZ; his mother: Harriet (Warren) Edblom of Duluth; four siblings: Connie Erickson of Duluth, Debbie (Bert) Pearce of Basalt, CO, Dale (Debbie) Erickson of Aurora, and Bonnie (Rick) Helander of Independence, MN; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Erwin Erickson.
