Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy E. Gentile, 97, of Gilbert, will be 11am Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gilbert with Fr. Charles Flynn as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at church. Burial will be in the Gilbert Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Dorothy died Saturday, June 4, 2016 at St. Raphael’s Health and Rehab in Eveleth, MN. Dorothy’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Certified Nursing Assistants and the Licensed Practical Nurses at St. Raphael’s for the love and kindness shown to “grams” over the past years; especially in the last two weeks. Dorothy was born April 22, 1919 in Biwabik, MN to Matt and Anna (Erickson) Mickelson. She was a 1936 graduate of Biwabik High School. Following high school, she worked in the Torpedo Factory in Bremerton, Washington during WWII. On May 3, 1947 she married Ross J. Gentile in Virginia, MN. Dorothy worked for the Cluett Peabody Shirt Factory in Gilbert, Eveleth and later in Virginia. Dorothy enjoyed her home and being a homemaker. She will be remembered for her cooking, baking, sewing and crocheting. She loved to garden and can vegetables. She was a long time member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gilbert. Survivors include her son, Patrick Gentile of Gilbert; daughter, Louise “Lou” Roberg of Mahtomedi; grandchildren: Ross (Hanna) Roberg of Minneapolis, Kevin Roberg of New York City and Sam (Sharon) Pitkanen of Proctor; great grandchildren: Kyler and Larissa Pitkanen; daughter-in-law, Sylvia Gentile of Gilbert; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ross; son, Mike; son-in-law, Matt Roberg; brothers: John, Emil, Edwin, Henry, Art, Lawrence and two in infancy; sisters: Jennie Guimont, Irene Sjoberg, Ellen Sjoberg, Florence Mattson and Edna Nelson.
