Thomas "Tom" H. Henderson, 64, of Biwabik, died Saturday, June 11, 2016 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN with family by his side. Tom was born August 1, 1951 in Biwabik, MN to William “Ted” and Shirley (Ostby) Henderson. He was a 1970 graduate of Biwabik High School, attended Mesabi Community College and the University of Minnesota, Duluth where he studied criminology. On April 17, 1982 he married Dawn Dewhurst and they had two children together, Jason and Megan. Tom worked as a carpenter for the Heem brothers for several years. He then went on to work as a journeyman electrician and obtained his master electrician license. He was a member of IBEW Local 242 for 30 plus years. Tom was a member of Community United Church of Christ and enjoyed fishing, golfing, cooking and music. He continued to play trombone throughout his lifetime and was often seen participating in the 4th of July parades. He especially enjoyed spending time with his three granddaughters, which always put a special sparkle in his beautiful blue eyes. Survivors include his mother, Shirley Henderson of Biwabik; son, Jason Henderson of Eveleth; daughter, Megan (John) Flannigan of Eveleth; grandchildren: Adison Henderson and twins Taryn and Cora Flannigan; siblings: Marsha, Rick (Becky), Stephen (Darlene), Sally Henderson and Nancy (Mike) Korpi; special friend and companion, Roberta Belland; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, William “Ted” Henderson and many friends and relatives that were special to him. Funeral service will be 2pm Friday, June 17, 2016 at Community United Church of Christ in Biwabik with Pastor John Szarke officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik.
