Funeral service for Esther Marie Myers, 80, of Embarrass will be 1 pm Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the Hope Lutheran Church in Embarrass with Pastor Evelyn Weston officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Embarrass Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Esther died Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the Chestnut Grove Assisted Living Facility in Virginia. Esther was born on March 21, 1936 to Lewis and Mayme (Knutson) Wheeler in Brainerd City, MN. She grew up and attended school in the Longville, MN area and graduated from the Longville High School, Class of 1954. Following high school, she furthered her education at the Bemidji State Teacher’s College and later studied Advertising Art at the Art Institute in Minneapolis. She was united in marriage to Darwin Myers on July 3, 1955. The couple made their home in Embarrass. She was employed as an office clerk for St. Louis County and also produced and edited “The Flying Finn” for the Embarrass Township Newsletter until recent years. Esther enjoyed many hobbies including photography, painting, and various other arts and crafts. She took pleasure in riding her ATV and her horses. She was a very talented musician having played many instruments. Esther was instrumental in starting the annual Horse Show at the Embarrass Fair. Survived by her two sons: Jim Myers of Embarrass and George (Lisa) Myers of Embarrass; two grandchildren: Curt Myers of Bemidji and Briita Myers of Embarrass; a sister: Alice Eliason of Ft. Myers, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darwin; a brother, Louis Wheeler, and her parents.
