Memorial Mass for Richard Allan Rensink, 69, of Aurora will be 10 am Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hoyt Lakes with Fr. Peter Lambert celebrating. Visitation will be one hour prior to mass at the church with a Rosary service at 9:30 am. Inurnment will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Military honors accorded by the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes Color Guard. Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Richard died Monday, July 25, 2016 surrounded by family at his home. Richard was born on May 20, 1947 to Walter and Ramona (Nelson) Rensink in Forest City, IA. Richard’s family moved to Hoyt Lakes when he was in the fifth grade. He was very active in Boy Scouts throughout school, and was proudly honored with the Eagle Scout Award. Richard graduated from the Aurora High School, Class of 1965. He continued his education at UMD where he graduated with a degree in business and accounting. After graduation, Richard enlisted into the US Army and served as a 1st lieutenant. Upon his honorable discharge, Richard worked in business until taking employment with US Steel where he worked as a Systems Repairman until his retirement in 2009. Richard was united in marriage to Kathy Kafut on August 23, 1980 at the Resurrection Church in Eveleth. He was an active member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Aurora where he served in many capacities including trustee and the Knights of Columbus. Richard enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his friends and family. Survivors include his wife of 36 years: Kathy; son: Matt (Victoria) Rensink of Belgrade, MT; daughter: Cat (Graeme) Marcoux of Salem, MA; three grandchildren: Robert and Marie Rensink and Cecilia Marcoux; one sister: Barbara (Richard) Lakso of Cottage Grove, MN; sister-in-law: Jackie Rensink of Spruce Pine, NC; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert in infancy, and Michael; and his parents.
