Memorial service for Louis Roy Housey, 57, of Aurora, will be 11am Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora with Pastor Barbara Hegfors officiating. Friends may gather one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be accorded by the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes Color Guard. Louis died suddenly Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Essentia Health in Virginia, MN. He was born July 1, 1959 in Ely, Minnesota to Roy and Anna (Milburn) Housey. Louis was a graduate of William Kelly High School in Silver Bay and later served with the US Marines for four years. Louis worked most of his life as a self-employed logger and most recently owned and operated the Tacora in Aurora. Louis was a member of the Aurora American Legion Post 241 and was a Special Olympics coach. Survivors include his daughter, Nora Housey of Wasilla, AK; mother, Anna Housey of Isabella; his companion, Jessica Plevell-Packa of Aurora; brother, Bruce Housey of Aurora and his niece, Aurielle Housey of Grand Portage. He is preceded in death by his father, Roy.
