Funeral Service for Freeman Jay Miller, 77, of Lakeland, will be 1:30pm Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Biwabik Covenant Church with Pastor Nathan Lobb officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik, MN. Freeman died suddenly on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at his home in Lakeland. He was born September 18, 1938 in Mora, Minnesota to Grant and Ada Miller of Pokegama Lake in Grand Rapids, MN. He lived in Bovey, MN until the age of 8 and the lived at Pokegama Lake until he married his wife, Clarice Greniger on November 10, 1956. They made their home in Grand Rapids for a short time prior to moving to the Range in 1960. They lived in Babbitt and Aurora prior to settling in Lakeland in 1967. They have lived there for 49 years. Freeman worked for Erie and Reserve Mining Companies, then for Wiinanen Dairy and finally for AEOA as a weatherization supervisor. He retired from there in 2003. For many years he and his wife enjoyed foster parenting for many children. Survivors include his wife Clarice of 59 ¾ years; daughters, Laureen (Larry) Feldt of Long Prairie, Bonny (Scot) Hill of Biwabik; son, Brent (Darsi) Miller of Hanover; son, Joseph Miller of Duluth and daughter, Mandy (Brad) Hosford of Eveleth; special foster son, Cheyenne Boshey of Aurora and special foster daughter, Skye Goggleye of Nett Lake; 17 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and three on the way. Also surviving is his sister, Barbara (Darrell) Bartell of Babbitt. He is preceded in death by his son, Cary in 1972; parents, Grant and Ada Miller; brothers, Merle of Snohomish, Wash. and Cecil of Santa Maria, CA. Freeman was a man of integrity and will sadly be missed by all. His family is greatly comforted that he knew Jesus as his Savior.
