Memorial Service for Scott “Scotty” Alfred Fern Christensen, 24, of Biwabik and Palo will be 1 PM Monday, October 10, 2016 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Biwabik with Fr. Peter Lambert officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Sunday at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Scotty died Sunday, October 2, 2016 as a result of injuries sustained in an accident. Scotty was born on September 15, 1992 to Scott Christensen and Rita Licari in Virginia. He grew up in Biwabik and Palo and attended school at Mesabi East and eventually East Range Academy of Technology and Science in Eveleth from where he graduated, Class of 2012. Scotty furthered his education at Mesabi Range College where he graduated with an advanced welding degree in 2014. Scotty was currently employed by Precision Auto in Palo. He was a member of the Lake Superior Blacksmiths. In his youth, Scotty had been a member of the Boy Scouts Pack 162, an Alter Server for St. John’s Catholic Church, Biwabik, enjoyed playing baseball and basketball, skateboarding, dirt biking, and participating in the Fourth of July parades. Scotty also enjoyed welding, black smithing,being outdoors, fishing, working with his hands, and four-wheeling. Scotty took pride in helping his father and grandfather on their farm. Scotty was known as a jokester among his friends. He will be remembered for being loving and helpful. He was the “jungle gym” for all his little cousins. Scotty was a smiley baby and had nickname “Smiley” stuck with him ever since. Survivors include his parents: Scott Christensen of Palo and Rita Licari of Biwabik; one brother: Joshua Licari of Biwabik; two grandmothers: Gloria Licari of Biwabik and Verna (Don) Enquist of Aurora; special cousin: Wade Flannery of Palo; his “little sis”: Sadee and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his two grandfathers: Ervin Christensen and Frank Licari; great-grandparents: Verne and Leona Gritz, Russell and Melvina Ingals, and Alfred and Hilda Christensen.
