A celebration of life for Nicholas “Nick” John Trast, 31, of Duluth, formerly of Aurora will be held 3-5 pm Friday, October 21, 2016 at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Nick died Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the Essentia Health-Northern Pines Medical Center in Aurora. Nick was born on May 19, 1985 to Anthony and Brenda (Koivisto) Trast in Minneapolis. He grew up in Aurora and attended Mesabi East, graduating from the Class of 2003. Following school, Nick worked at the Tacora Theater, Poor Gary’s and Giants Ridge. He was currently employed as a floor installer for IFix Floor Company in Hermantown. Nick enjoyed being outdoors, snowboarding, skateboarding, fishing, hunting, and agate collecting. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Nick’s family remembers him as a kind person who was always willing to help others. Survivors include his parents: Anthony and Brenda Trast of Aurora; brother: Jeremy Trast of Aurora; nephew: Evan Chamberlin of Colorado; maternal grandmother: Gloria Koivisto of Palo; his best friend: Nathan Carr of Duluth; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Mervin Trast, Carol Gruden and Robert Koivisto; and his uncle: Alvin Broll.
