Mass of Christian Burial for Peter Anton Feldt, 88, of Hoyt Lakes will be 10 am Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hoyt Lakes with Fr. Peter Lambert celebrating. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Monday at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora with a rosary service at 6:45pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to Mass at the church. Military honors will be accorded by the Aurora-Hoyt Lakes Color Guard. Inurnment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Park, KS at a later date. Pete passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Lakewood Health Senior Campus in Staples, MN. Pete was born on January 15, 1928 to Anton and Anna (Reinert) Feldt in Park, KS. He grew up on the family farm in Park, KS. Peter graduated from the Buffalo Park High School, Class of 1946. Following high school, Pete enlisted into the US Army where he served during the Korean War in Greenland. Upon returning following his honorable discharge, Pete was united in marriage to Margaret Stithem on April 16, 1953 in WaKeeney, KS. The couple continued in the family tradition of farming until 1956 when they moved to Virginia and finally Hoyt Lakes where they remained. Pete was employed by Erie Mining Company, retiring after 34 years of service. During this time he also had numerous side businesses encompassing carpentry, concrete finishing, and furnace maintenance. Pete was an active member of the Queen of Peace Catholic Church where he helped build the original altar, a 4th degree Knights of Columbus having also served as the Grand Knight, the Hoyt Lakes VFW, the Aurora American Legion, the former Moose Club, TRC, and SOAR. He enjoyed carving walking sticks out of Diamond Willow, making rock clocks and jewelry, spending time at the cabin on Birch Lake that he built, hunting and fishing, and traveling to all fifty states. Pete and his wife, “Mark” enjoyed spending sixteen winters in Mission, TX. He will be remembered for his life of service to his family, church, friends, and neighbors. Survivors include his wife of 63 years: Margaret “Mark”; three children: Marla Schack of Hoyt Lakes, Larry (Laureen) Feldt of Long Prairie, and Ronald (Patty) Feldt of Aurora; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; sister: Bette Younger of Greenly, CO; brother: Anthony Feldt of Park, KS; sisters-in-law: Marge, Lois, and Louise Feldt and brother-in-law: Ray (Bernice) Stithem; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two children: Linda Annette and Kevin Feldt; brothers: Jerome, Jack, Norbert, and Cletus Feldt; sisters: Anna Marie Heulsman and Theresa Benton; and his parents.
