Funeral Mass for Dorothy Marie Susnik, 88, of Gilbert, will be 10:30 am Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gilbert with Fr. Michael Garry as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Virginia, MN. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Dorothy died Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Essentia Health Care Center in Virginia, MN. Dorothy was born September 26, 1928 in Virginia, MN to Earl and Mary (Duhant) Padgett. She was a 1946 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Virginia and was united in marriage to Albin Susnik on June 24, 1949. Dorothy was a member of the Gilbert VFW Auxiliary and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where she taught catechism. She was also a long time volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Dorothy worked as a seamstress at the Cluett Peabody Shirt Factories in Gilbert and Eveleth, but was mainly a homemaker. Above all she loved her family, traditions, cooking, doing ceramics, sewing and reading. She especially enjoyed decorating her front window with her Christmas village each year. Survivors include her children: James (Louise) Susnik of Twinsburg, OH, Cathy (Gordon) Okland of Eveleth, Mary Jo (Spencer) Hjelle of Virginia and Carol (Steve) Weinberger of Spokane, WA; she was affectionately known as nana to: Bryan Okland, Aaron Okland, Loni Okland Aadalen, Brent Susnik, Braden Susnik, Ryan Grahek, Jaclene Hjelle, Cari Kaptur and Greg Weinberger; 10 great grandchildren and one expected great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews that were special to her. She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 ½ years, her parents and brothers, James and Bernard Padgett. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, CNA’s and all the staff at the Virginia Care Center for the care and concern for our mom.
