Memorial services for Ruth Ann Maki, 89, of Aurora will be 11 am Friday, December 2, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora with Pastor Barbara Hegfors officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Aurora. Ruth died Saturday, November 26, 2016 at St. Raphael's Health and Rehabilitation Center in Eveleth. Ruth was born March 26, 1927, to Anselm and Jennie (Frandila) Leiviska in Biwabik, MN. She graduated as an honor student from Aurora High School in June 1945. Ruth worked at the Aurora Coop Store as a clerk and book keeper until after the war. She married the love of her life Leslie E. Maki in Biwabik on June 23, 1946. They celebrated 60 years of marriage together. Ruth also was the first manager of the Aurora Surplus Store and over the years while raising her family went back to work as a demonstrator at the Aurora Coop Store and also worked in the clothing department there. She was a Tupperware Sales Woman later in life. Ruth was a homemaker, loving wife and mother to four wonderful sons. She was especially proud of all her son’s and grandchildren’s many accomplishments. Ruth was a member of VFW Auxiliary Post 9702 since 1948, volunteer for Rainbows school program, an active member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, Woman's Life Ins. Group, Ladies of Kaleva and the Bandage Rolling Group. She was an avid Twins & Vikings fan. Ruthie had a great spirit and a love of music and dancing. Ruth enjoyed her life and felt blessed by God for her loved ones and great friends. She will be truly missed. Ruth is survived by her sons: Sidney (JoAnn) Maki of Phoenix, AZ, Paul (Deborah) Maki of Aurora, Richard (Colleen) Maki of North Branch, MN and Curtis (Lea Yager) Maki of E. Bethel, MN, grandchildren: Keith (Jennie) Maki, Kyle (Bethany) Maki and Kelly (Chad Olson) Maki all of Arizona and Nicholas Maki of MN. Honorary grandsons Grant and Wyatt Yager of Big Lake, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband Leslie E. Maki in 2006, beloved brothers Roy and Raymond Leiviska, numerous uncles, aunts and relatives, and her dear friend Delores Philipczyk.
