Mass of Christian Burial for Edward Henry Schneider, 87, of Gilbert, will be 10am Saturday, January 14, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gilbert with Fr. Frank Perkovich as celebrant. Visitation will be Friday from 4-6pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert with recitation of the rosary at 5pm by the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. Visitation will also continue for one hour prior to the mass at church on Saturday. Burial with military honors accorded by the Gilbert VFW Post will be in the Gilbert Cemetery. Edward Henry Schneider, 87 of Gilbert, passed away peacefully Saturday January 7, 2017 at the Edgewood Vista in Virginia. He was born on July 15, 1929 in Little Falls, MN. He was born to John and Helen (Kuklock) Schneider. He was from a family of 12 children. He graduated from Swanville High School, Mn. He joined the US Navy in 1949 and served as a commissary man first class on the USS Cadmus. Ed attended the radio broadcasting school in the twin cities. On June 11th, 1955 he married Donna Mae Super. Ed was a radio announcer for WEVE and a produce manager for the Aurora Coop. He worked as a separator attendant and in the warehouse at the Erie Mining Co. Ed was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church men’s and funeral choir. He sang with Father Perkovich's polka mass, funerals, weddings and everyone enjoyed his singing. Ed was President of the Gilbert senior citizens, chairman of the 3rd of July committee, former mayor and councilman, Gilbert school board member, member of knights of Columbus(fourth degree), member of the George and Mark Klobuchar post 4456, post commander and 8th district commander, and marching unit. Ed was a kind man and known for his strong faith, family, community and gardening. Ed's family would like to thank the Edgewood Vista staff, Essentia Health Hospice and dear friend Linda Tyssen for their kindness. He is survived by his children: Rebecca (Nirmalan) Martell of Santa Fe, NM, Rachael (John) Skalko of Sparta, Ramona Schneider of Albuquerque, NM and Edward Schneider Jr. of Gilbert; grandchildren: Paul (Mallory) Skalko, Noelle (Brendan) Holohan, Karen (Jeremy) Moberg, Jennifer (Jerod) Klava and Tania Martell; great grandchildren: Jonah, Maude, Orla, Finn, Wyatt and Emmy; sister: Sr. Mary Fabian Schneider; numerous nieces and nephews; his canine companion, Gracie Mae He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen (Kuklock) Schneider; wife, Donna; siblings: Stanley, Ben, Jerry, Peter, Al, Alphonse, Florence, Arlyce, Sr. Mary Eugenia and Angeline
