Visitation for Phyllis Marie Hustad, 73, of Bass Lake, will be 2-4pm Sunday, February 19, 2016 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Phyllis died suddenly but peacefully on Monday, February 13, 2017 at her home. Phyllis was born April 23, 1943 in Alexandria, Minnesota to Ralph and Mayme (Dynda) Engelbrecht. She was a graduate of Alexandria High School and later married Jerome Hustad on May 18, 1963 in Alexandria. Phyllis co-owned and operated the family sawmill with her husband and was talented with furniture upholstery. She was a homemaker and was “the best cook in the world” according to her family and friends. Her family and friends will remember her wonderful cookies, hunting and fishing with her, her love of her dogs and her hard work ethic. Her doors were always open and birdfeeders were always full. She will be remembered as being caring with a story and a smile. She is survived by her husband, Jerome “Jerry”; sons: Greg (Kim) Hustad of Cape Coral, FL and Douglas (Kelly Laugen) Hustad of Biwabik; brother, Warren (Norma) Engelbrecht of Alexandria, MN, in-laws: Lee and Roxanne Hustad, of Alexandria, MN, Nancy and Jim Johnson of Columbus, Ohio, John Hustad of Minneapolis, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents.
