Funeral Service for Verna Minnie Kopp, 87, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 10am Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes with Pastor Eric Thiele officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Verna died Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Essentia Health – Northern Pines in Aurora, MN. She was born May 11, 1929 in May City, IA to Carl and Minnie (Kruckenberg) Hemmig. Verna was a 1947 graduate of Hartley High School in Hartley, IA. On January 22, 1948 she married Marvin Kopp in May City. Following their marriage, they farmed for nine years prior to moving to the Evergreen Trailer Court on December 11, 1956. On February 12, 1957 they moved to Hoyt Lakes. There, Verna worked for Wells Fargo. She retired as office manager on January 31, 1987. Verna was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where she served as past secretary of its women’s group. She was also a member of the Hoyt Lakes Chamber, the Garden Club and Boat Club. She was active with the Hoyt Lakes Women’s Golf League, and often said she would rather be on the golf course than anywhere else. Verna was an active participant and volunteered many hours to the Hoyt Lakes community. Survivors include her husband, Marvin; children: Lynn (Doris) of Hoyt Lakes, Larry (Karen) of Plymouth and Lory Keranen of Hoyt Lakes; grandchildren: Lynn Jr. (Deanna) Kopp, Jamie (Melissa) Kopp, Matthew (Stephanie) Kopp, Marc Kopp, Jenna (Connor) Kopp, Eric (Hillary) Keranen, Kyle Keranen and Alex Keranen; great grandchildren: Jourdan, Khalix, Reese, Brandon, Sam, Aiden, Emma, Jace, Lincoln and Mallory; brother, Ted (Kathy) Hemmig of CA and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings: Veda, Vivian, Orville and Chester.
