Funeral service for Curtis Ray King, 73, of Palo, will be 11am Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert with Pastor Marvin Aultman officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7pm at the funeral home and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Rauha Cemetery in Palo. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Curtis died Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN. He was born March 2, 1944 in Chester, MN to Ray and Margaret (Williams) King. Following his schooling, he enlisted with the US Marines and served 1962-1966. He worked for Reserve Mining Company in Babbitt as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. His passion was music and began traveling on the road playing with the Buckskins and bluegrass with Lorene Clark and the Laurentian Divide. They enjoyed playing for crowds in Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska. He most recently enjoyed playing with the Circle of Friends, No Strings Attached and Old Guy’s Rule. His hobbies included cutting and peeling diamond willow and tending to the horses. Survivors include his Life partner, Vickie Erickson of Palo; children: Renae King, Buck Ray King and Thad King all of Arizona, Cassidy Hooker and Ty Curtis King of Colorado; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister, Annetta Mae (Jim) Bauer of Spirit Lake, IA; aunt, Alvie Horsman of Kasson; brother-in-law, Butch Sherek; and his dog, Baby Girl. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Charlene Sherek and numerous aunts and uncles.
