Funeral service for Thomas James “Tomo” Indihar, 56, of McKinley, will be 1:30pm Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Community United Church of Christ in Biwabik with Pastor John Szarke officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik, MN. Tom died suddenly on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at his workplace in Gilbert, MN. He was born September 12, 1960 in Eveleth, MN to Thomas C. and Carol (Moren) Indihar. Tom was a 1979 graduate of Gilbert High School. He worked for Loram where he operated a rail grinder for the railroad and later worked for Erie Mining Company. Following its closure he began working for Mesabi Bituminous. There, he worked as a plant manager for 32 years which he greatly enjoyed. On March 30, 2013 he married Rita Lageson at their home in McKinley where they lived and raised a family for 29 years. Tom was a member of the Local 49 Union and was a former Biwabik Township fireman. He was an avid equipment operator who loved hunting and fishing. But most of all he enjoyed family and gatherings at the “super structure”. Survivors include his wife, Rita; children: Brandon (Meagan) Trast of Biwabik, Brian (Lisa Forness and her daughter, Sophia) Trast of Biwabik and Larissa Johnson of Biwabik; mother, Carol Indihar of Virginia; siblings: Michael (Bergetta) Indihar of Lake Vermilion, Sue Tessier of Anoka and Connie Nystrom of Eveleth; grandchildren: Lucas, Sage, Kale and Sawyer; father-in-law, Luke Lageson of Biwabik; several nieces and nephews and his canine companion, Molly. He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas C.; infant nephew, Cody and mother-in-law, Booty Lageson.
